About me

I was educated at Bacon's School for Boys (C 0f E), Bermondsey. I attained the position of Headboy. On leaving, I attended Lewisham Technical College and obtained C&G Electrical (grade 1 pass with Honours). On leaving Bermondsey, I moved to Twickenham where I met Bob Law. Working with him, he encouraged me to paint. We became very close friends. Working as an electrician I was able to then move to Kingston upon Thames where I now reside. I became part of the Sculpture House Artist's Group.

This is where I met the likes of George Foster, Marcus Foster and Paul Wood

Geoffrey is also the founding member of The Willoughby Art Group.  The Group's aim is to show self taught artists work in the belief that all art is quite valid and the world should have access to it; to this end paintings/sculpture images can be shown on this site free of charge for that wider world to see and enjoy.

Please email me your images for evaluation and possible publication here.

The name of this Group derives from artists talking about their work at The Willoughby Arms, Kingston upon Thames. Matters of little importance are also discussed at great length adds to the culture that art should be extended to the public domain, not just the public bar!

The First contender is Brian Inwood's work and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Eileen Horner, Merle Crichton and Estelle Marks.

Welsh Dave ( etymology: He is Welsh and his name is David ) that's why we call him Welsh Dave. Paint me 'warts and all' he said and that is what Geoffrey did, to paraphrase Oliver Cromwell's instruction to the painter Sir Peter Lely, when commissioning his portrait.

The actual conversation is recorded here for posterity!!

"Mr Ryall, I desire you would use all your skill to paint my picture truly like me, and not flatter me at all; but remark all these roughnesses, pimples, warts and everything as you see me, otherwise I will never pay a farthing for it."

The monetary multiplier cannot be used here because Wales never used the Farthing!
